This year, our K teams have made an effort to bring learning outdoors and bring natural based materials into the classroom. As our learning environment transforms, we are sure to keep our learning spaces, neat, tidy, and clutter free. As a Reggio Emilia inspired educator, I am asked about the impact of nature based programs and materials. I have found through data collections and observations, that implementing a nature based program into daily activities (e.g., gardening), continues to foster early learners with care for the environment, a sense of regulating impulsive, developed vocabulary skills, and certainly social and emotional development. Be sure to visit my blog shortly about my research on nature based learning and the inquiry based classroom.
